Howies Hockey Tape is a locally owned and fast-growing business that has been around the Grand Rapids area since 2002 with another distribution facility operating out of Burlington, Ontario, just outside of Toronto. Our focus is selling high quality hockey tape, accessories, apparel, and many other sporting goods. Over the years we have become a staple in the hockey community, and we are currently working with every team in the NHL, AHL, and the majority of division 1 colleges around the country.

In 2015 we launched our sister company, Howies Athletic Tape. This allowed us to branch into new markets and has given us the opportunity to work with all sports. We have built this side of the company to an elite level that allows us to supply products to MLB, NFL, MLS, and NBA teams. We are also supporting D1 football programs like the University of Michigan, Alabama, and Michigan State, as well as thousands of high schools across North America. If someone needs tape or sports medicine products, we want to be the ones to supply it.

All in all, we pride ourselves on providing the world’s highest quality products to pro shops, retail stores, teams of all levels, and international distributors. Another facet we are focused on is expanding our internet sales business directly to consumers so everyone can use Howies. Our team-oriented culture, industry-leading customer service, and ability to fulfill orders quickly and error free across all sales channels sets us apart from the competition.

POSITION INFORMATION

“One Thing”: Represent and grow the Howies brand by managing and creating outstanding content on social media, providing a seamless customer service experience to our end users and wholesale customers

We are looking for a driven individual to join our team at Howies Hockey / Athletic Tape for the role of Social Media & Marketing Coordinator. The Howies brand and image has grown exponentially over the past few years, and we are always looking to expand our reach. From our social media presence to our online marketing campaigns, we feel that Howies can become a household name in all sports, not just hockey. E-COMMERCE & MARKETING

• Conceptualize, create, and continuously update all Howies digital marketing efforts in order to increase online sales for both the US and Canadian websites
• Use written skills to work collaboratively with marketing director to write blogs /emails
• Update product descriptions and long-form written content for annual printed catalog
• Work closely and assist marketing director to ensure Howies digital ads, SEOs, and other marketing assets are updated and are proving effective for overall company sales
• Oversee and manage social media channels as they relates to e-commerce website platforms to increase sales. Ensure all Howies landing pages, product pages, links, and backlinks are current and accurately redirect customers to proper channels
• Parlay social media interactions into new sales – find customers that are interested in our products and use our marketing influence to push them over the “goal-line”

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT

• Stay up to date on relevant topics, industry news, and brand mention on social media
• Ensure the Howies “brand voice” is consistent and aligns with company objectives
• Present ideas on new posts, strategies, and company partnerships / alignments to management on a consistent basis to ensure Howies stays on the proper path
• Reach out and connect with prospective end users that might not yet follow or be aware of what Howies is – make these targeted customers fall in love with our company
• Take the lead on all aspects of Howies social media, making sure that all posts, stories, ads, etc. are scheduled to go out on time and are properly managed
• Work closely with marketing director and graphic design team to ensure you have all assets necessary to carry out these duties on a daily basis
• Be extremely diligent in making sure all posts are well written with no spelling and / or punctuation errors. Be the last line of defense to make sure all graphics look good.
• Create and implement a strategy to connect with junior / professional players, influencers, photographers, key accounts, and companies to foster growth

WHOLESALE CUSTOMER SPECIALIST & LEAD GENERATION

• Tee up sales by providing our team with ammunition to use on customer calls
• Utilize social media accounts to general customer leads, create new upsell opportunities, and develop leverage to be used in tandem with the sales team
• Engage customers and clients on social media, over the phone, and in-person, when possible, to create a positive experience for anyone that interacts with our brand
• Identify and build relationships with key clients to help execute partnerships, increase overall sales, and amplify the Howies brand to collaborate with retailers and teams
• Identify and build relationships with key clients to help increase sales and amplify the Howies Athletic Tape brand with both existing and potential new clients

GENERAL – As a small business there are many other tasks that will be required

• Represent Howies Hockey / Athletic Tape at tournaments and tradeshows as needed
• Order fulfillment – know how to process and pack all orders that come into Howies
• Work with production and operation teams to develop new product ideas
• Work with the management and sales teams to develop new sales ideas
• Communication and positive relationships with the entire team – top to bottom
• Engage both the operations and sales sides of the business daily
• Anything else required from Howies to be a best-in-class business

OUR COMPANY MANTRA

Here at Howies, we take the phrase “work hard, play hard” very seriously. When we are not busy assisting our customers, we are busy playing hockey and having a good time. When the days are just too perfect to be working, we will take a quick trip to the driving range, play pickup basketball, throw the football around, or get some batting practice in to stay seasoned for our summer softball league. Occasionally on one of these nice days in the summertime, we will grab some meat to BBQ and some drinks to share and enjoy each other’s company outside during lunch break. In the wintertime, we will crack open a couple of cold ones and watch the Red Wings or even pop downtown and catch a Griffins game at the Van. All in all, we are always up for a good time, both in the office and out. We strive to make the office an awesome environment that our team is excited to come to on a daily basis and put in a hard day’s work.
