Business Development Representative | Position Responsibilities Detail

Reports To: Sales Manager

One Thing: Take amazing care of customers and prospective customers, leading to a better reputation & lifelong customers.

Customer Service Online: Serve Howies online customers and prospective customers with world class customer service.

  • Answer phones with an excellent attitude and assist online customers with ordering, issues, questions, general information, etc.
  • Create rapport with online customers within seconds of them calling in.
  • When appropriate, give good advice and upsell by suggesting products.
  • Meticulously maintain and thoroughly respond to Howies general email – howie@howieshockeytape.com.
  • Ensure that we are collecting emails for our email newsletter.
  • Oversee returns/exchanges from start to finish, including shipping of exchanged product.
  • Ensure that all information is entered into our systems accurately and thoroughly.
  • Assist walk-in customers. Develop rapport and upsell if possible.

Customer Service Wholesale: Serve Howies wholesale customers & prospective customers.

  • Answer phones with an excellent attitude and assist wholesale customers with ordering, questions, issues, general information, etc.
  • Create rapport with all wholesale customers. Learn about their business and get to know them personally.
  • Upsell all wholesale customers and keep the respective sales rep informed of progress. “Plant seeds for rep.”
  • Meticulously maintain and thoroughly respond to Howies general email – howie@howieshockeytape.com. Give priority attention to wholesale customer’s orders and inquiries.
  • Ensure that all information is entered into our systems accurately and thoroughly.
  • Develop new business through rapport with existing customers and wherever else you can find it - “Bird Dogging”

Order Processing: Entering and processing wholesale and online orders.

  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of Howies product line. This includes case quantities, weights, box sizes, etc.
  • Utilize Salespad to create sales documents.
  • Understand the workflow within Salespad and be able to move orders through that work flow
  • Process backorders timely as soon as stock is received
  • Utilize Shipstation and shipping tools to process online orders
  • Understand and utilize shipping software to be able to produce shipping labels for the cheapest possible cost for Howies.
  • Verify pricing on each order according to corresponding price levels.
  • Work in a timely manner to carry on Howies mission to provide same-day shipping service.
  • Keep an open line of communication with sales reps with any issues regarding order fulfillment.
  • Be a helpful and friendly liaison between the warehouse and salesforce.

General:  As a small business there are many other tasks that will be required.

  • Represent Howies at tournaments and tradeshows as needed.
  • Assist with social media as needed.
  • Order fulfillment – know how to process and pack all orders that come into Howies. Be willing to assist in the warehouse as needed.
  • Data entry projects as needed.
  • Administrative, IT, or cleric duties as needed.
  • Work with the team to develop new product ideas.
  • Work with the team to develop new marketing pieces.
  • Work with the team to develop new sales ideas.
  • Communication with entire team - top to bottom.
  • Engage the entire team on both the operations and sales sides of the business - team effort.
  • Anything else it takes to be a best in class business.
