Hours:                     Part time - Hours of Operation: 8 AM to 5 PM EST

POSITION INFORMATION

The “One Thing:”: Support the growth of the Howies brand through creative thinking, developing captivating images, outstanding photo-editing, and assistance in all graphic design aspects.

We are looking for a driven, smart, and creatively talented individual to join the Howies Hockey Tape team as a graphic design intern. This individual will play a pivotal role in our marketing department and must support the team in execution of design for web, social, print, events, campaigns, and other projects. Primary responsibilities include managing digital content, design of retail displays, packaging, and promotional items. Assistance in creation of email marketing, social media content, and apparel design. COMPETENCIES

  • Understanding of and experience in corporate branding
  • Understanding objectives, defining tone, layout, color theory, typography in signage, print and digital media
  • Fluency in current graphic design practices software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premier Video editing
  • Pro-active self-starter with ability to be both a conceptual and conscientious creative thinker
  • Excellent communication, prioritization and time management skills within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to multi-task on many projects across business types with both high and low levels of art direction
  • Awareness of design trends and natural talent to adapt them to customer-facing graphic design

THE PROGRAM AT A GLANCE

  • Hands on training – This will include creating digital advertisements, vectorizing and editing logos and images, and using a multitude of different software programs to highlight the Howies brand. These are critical skills and experiences for any future graphic design job, and you will be learning from people that have been doing this for years.

GENERAL – As a small business there are many other tasks that will be required

  • Represent Howies Hockey / Athletic Tape at tournaments and tradeshows as needed
  • Order fulfillment – know how to process and pack all orders that come into Howies
  • Work with production and operation teams to develop new product ideas
  • Work with the management and sales teams to develop new sales ideas
  • Communication and positive relationships with the entire team – top to bottom
  • Engage both the operations and sales sides of the business daily
  • Anything else required from Howies to be a best-in-class business

OUR COMPANY MANTRA

When the days are just too perfect to be working, we will take a quick trip to the driving range, play pickup basketball, throw the football around, or get some batting practice in to stay seasoned for our summer softball league. In the wintertime, we will crack open a couple of cold ones and watch the Red Wings or even pop downtown and catch a Griffins game at the Van.
